Today I helped save a whale.  This morning there was a young minke stranded by the boat ramp.  The tide had gone out and left it lying on the rocks.Today the marine mammal medics were here and I learnt about whale strandings - about doing our best to help whales in trouble.

There are over thirty species of whales in New Zealand waters and all of them have been known to strand. Saving a whale is teamwork, and this book looks at some of the ways we can all help as useful members of the team.
